Install and activate your eSIM
Don’t activate too early
Your eSIM’s service days start on install—so set it up the day you need.
Best on travel-day
Activating just before or right after you land gives you maximum coverage.
Have stable Wi-Fi
A solid connection ensures smooth installation—especially in airports.
What to know before you begin installation via QR-code
- Have your QR on another screen (or a printout) for easy scanning.
- Stay connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data throughout setup.
- Each QR code is single-use only.
- Do not delete the eSIM profile once it’s added—you’ll lose it.
What to know before manual setup
- Manual codes can only be used once.
- Maintain internet connectivity throughout installation.
- Don’t remove the eSIM after adding—it can’t be restored.
Choose your Android model:
1. Open Mobile Services
Go to Settings > Mobile Services (or Mobile Data) > Add eSIM.
2. Select “Use QR Code”
When prompted, tap “Set Up eSIM” and choose the QR-code option.
3. Scan the Code
Point your camera at the QR image on another device or printout.
4. Add & Label
Tap “Add Data Plan,” then give your eSIM a clear name (e.g. ByteSIM-USA).
5. Choose Defaults
Assign it as your primary line for calls, messages, FaceTime & mobile data.
6. Prevent Roaming Surprises
Switch off “Allow Mobile Data Switching” to avoid accidental charges.
7. Turn On Your eSIM
Go to Settings > Mobile Data, select your new plan, toggle on “This Line” & Data Roaming.
1. Open Mobile Services
Go to Settings > Mobile Services (or Mobile Data) > Add eSIM.
2. Choose “Enter Details Manually”
When “Set Up eSIM” appears, tap “Use QR Code,” then select “Enter Details Manually.”
3. Enter SM-DP+ & Activation Code
Paste your SM-DP+ address and activation code into the fields, then tap “Next” to add your eSIM.
4. Add & Label
Tap “Add Data Plan,” then give your eSIM a clear name (e.g. ByteSIM-USA).
5. Choose Defaults
Assign it as your primary line for calls, messages, FaceTime & mobile data.

Go to Settings > Mobile Data, select your new plan, toggle on “This Line” & Data Roaming.

- Open Settings and tap Mobile Data.
- Choose the new eSIM entry from the list.
- Scroll down to Data Roaming and toggle it on.
Confirming Activation
- Signal check: Confirm you see at least one bar by the network icon.
- Roaming check: Open Settings > Mobile Data, select your eSIM profile, and make sure Data Roaming is enabled.
1. Open Connections
Head to Settings > Connections and make sure Wi-Fi or mobile data is on.
2. Go to SIM Manager
Tap “SIM card manager” inside Connections to view eSIM options.
3. Add a New eSIM
Under the eSIM section, select “+ Add eSIM” to start.
4. Choose QR Scan
Select “Scan QR from service provider” to open the scanner.
5. Prepare Your QR
Have the QR code printed or on another device for easy scanning.
6. Scan & Wait
Align the QR in the scanner and wait a moment for your plan to register.
7. Confirm Addition
Tap “Add” when it appears to install the plan on your phone.
8. Rename Your Plan
Select the new eSIM, choose “Name,” and give it a friendly label.
1. Open Connections
Go to Settings > Connections and confirm Wi-Fi or mobile data is on.
2. Open SIM Manager
Tap SIM card manager under Connections to see eSIM options.
3. Add eSIM
Under “eSIMs,” select + Add eSIM to begin.
4. Enter Activation Code
Tap Enter activation code below the scanner view.
5. Paste & Continue
Paste the activation code you received, then tap Continue and wait.
6. Wait for Registration
Give it a few seconds for your new plan to be recognized.
7. Finalize Installation
Tap Add when prompted to install the eSIM on your device.
8. Rename Your Plan
Optionally, open your new profile, tap Name, and give it a clear label.
Activating Your eSIM
- Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager.
- Under “Preferred SIMs,” tap “Mobile data” and choose your new eSIM.
- Navigate back to Connections > Mobile networks and turn on “Data roaming.”
Confirming Activation
- Look for bars: Make sure you see signal bars next to your new network icon.
- Double-check settings: In Settings > Connections > SIM card manager, confirm your eSIM is enabled and set for data.
1. Open Network & Internet
Go to Settings > Network & Internet and confirm Wi-Fi or mobile data is on.
2. Add Your New Plan
In “Network & Internet,” tap the + next to your main plan to begin.
3. Download a SIM Instead?
Press “Download a SIM instead?”, agree to use two SIMs, then wait a few seconds.
4. Scan Your QR Code
Point the on-screen scanner at your QR (printed or on another device).
5. Wait & Download
Once your plan appears, tap “Download” to install it.
6. Manage Roaming
Open your new plan’s settings and toggle Data Roaming on or off as needed.
7. Rename Your eSIM
Open your plan, tap the edit icon, and enter a custom label.
1. Open Network & Internet
Go to Settings > Network & Internet and confirm you’re online.
2. Tap the “+” Icon
In Network & Internet, hit the + beside your primary plan to start.
3. Download a SIM Instead?
Choose “Download a SIM instead?”, confirm two-SIM mode, then wait a moment.
4. Open Manual Setup
Scroll down, tap “Need help?”, then pick Enter Manually.
5. Enter Your Code
Paste the manual activation code, tap Continue and wait.
6. Download Your Plan
Once it’s recognized, press Download to install.
7. Toggle Data Roaming
Open your new eSIM profile and switch Data Roaming on or off.
8. Give It a Name
Tap the edit icon on your eSIM plan and assign a friendly label.
Activating Your eSIM
- Open Settings and tap Network & Internet.
- Find and select the eSIM entry you just added.
- Hit Use SIM to switch it on.
- From the list of lines, choose your new data-only plan.
- Scroll down to Roaming and enable it, then disable your primary SIM to avoid extra fees.
Confirming Activation
- Signal bars: Check you have at least one bar by your new network icon.
- Settings check: In Settings > Network & Internet > SIM, confirm your eSIM is selected and roaming is on.
